Matthew was a sixteen year old High Honors student at Penn Trafford High School in Harrison City, Pennsylvania when he died suddenly in his sleep on April 14, 2005. He had a passion for life and in particular, music. When he passed, he was the lead guitarist for a local rock and roll band, Running From Romance. He was a “friend of the friendless” and had a HEART OF GOLD. His kindness, integrity, character and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Matthew suffered a sudden cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart disorder.

Rock For The Heart

Rock for the Heart is a non-profit charity organization that funds congenital heart disease research. Matthew Fischerkeller was a 16 year old Penn Trafford High School student who passed away due to cardiac arrest from congenital heart disease that he was diagnosed with at birth. Rock for the Heart raises money by putting on an annual golf outing as well as other musical events to raise awareness. Rock for the Heart recently presented a grant to the new Cardiology Department at the top-rated Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This new, state of the art facility has the most advanced cardiology equipment and is staffed by some of the world's finest cardiologists.
